what is new in kalahari

HOTAZEL, Northern Cape (miningweekly.com) – The first blast took place on Tuesday at the new R1.5-billion Kudumane manganese mining project near Hotazel in the Northern Cape. Mineral Resources Minister Susan Shabangu conducted the official opening of what is the fourth new black-controlled manganese mining development under way in South Africa's well-endowed Kalahari. Shabangu urged that steps be taken now to ensure that the economic legacy of the Kalahari manganese fields turns out much better than the disappointing legacy that has been left in the wake of the mined-out diamond fields of Kimberley, developed in the same province more than 100 years ago. She said that development of the area provided the chance to extend economic freedom to South Africans through the many spinoffs that mining and beneficiation spawns. Surface preparation and civil engineering work are being advanced at the site, which is being developed jointly by two black economically empowered (BEE) companies, Northern Cape Manganese Company and Dirleton Minerals & Energy.

The Republic of Mali

In recent years, travelers to Mali come mostly to see the three World Heritage sites, Timbuktu, Djenne and Bandiagara. However, there exist numerous other tourism resources relating to the diverse cultures of the empires and kingdoms that have flourished over the centuries. National projects currently being pursued in Mali seek to open up and develop tourism resources, so as to allow new as well as existing forms of tourism. In terms of tourism development, which heads the Malian government's list of priorities, ecotourism combined with conventional tourism, and a policy of utilizing the festivals held in various regions as tourism resources, are projected to contribute to an increase in visitor numbers. Steps are being taken in various parts of Mali to set up a pleasant environment geared towards tourism. In addition to several hundred hotels and tourism operators, there have been increases in the number of car rental companies, hospitals accepting foreigners, insurance organizations, and financial institutions handling foreign exchange. Airports, roads and railways linking these areas are also under expansion. Active steps are now being taken in the wake of economic liberalization and the privatization of various government bodies, to improve facilities, train staff, and support and manage tourism resources by means of tourism associations and other organizations.

Africa, one continent, many worlds

word simply means "travel" in Swahili, but for many, it alludes to wonders first envisioned in childhood: sweeping savannas, big snarling cats, thundering herds of elephant and wildebeest. Like its meaning, the word roams the imagination, becoming other words and places, like serengeti, sahara, or Kilimanjaro. Safari crosses the landscape of the mind, until it finally merges with the name of the great continent itself, Africa.
Geographia invites our readers to explore all the traditional African safari destinations, but the game parks and wildlife reserves are only the beginning of the adventure. The second largest continent on Earth, Africa contains more countries than any other. With a history of human habitation that begins with the oldest known ancestors of man, the continent's cultural wealth easily matches its natural attractions. Empires rose and fell in Africa thousands of years before the European powers began their protracted exploitation of the continent, and much pre-colonial culture remains intact. At go to Africa we strive to make your African safari the experience of a lifetime. Of course, it helps to know what you have in mind when you think of safari travel. By choosing one of the following options you'll be taken to the African safari we think would suit you best.
