The Republic of Mali

In recent years, travelers to Mali come mostly to see the three World Heritage sites, Timbuktu, Djenne and Bandiagara. However, there exist numerous other tourism resources relating to the diverse cultures of the empires and kingdoms that have flourished over the centuries. National projects currently being pursued in Mali seek to open up and develop tourism resources, so as to allow new as well as existing forms of tourism. In terms of tourism development, which heads the Malian government's list of priorities, ecotourism combined with conventional tourism, and a policy of utilizing the festivals held in various regions as tourism resources, are projected to contribute to an increase in visitor numbers. Steps are being taken in various parts of Mali to set up a pleasant environment geared towards tourism. In addition to several hundred hotels and tourism operators, there have been increases in the number of car rental companies, hospitals accepting foreigners, insurance organizations, and financial institutions handling foreign exchange. Airports, roads and railways linking these areas are also under expansion. Active steps are now being taken in the wake of economic liberalization and the privatization of various government bodies, to improve facilities, train staff, and support and manage tourism resources by means of tourism associations and other organizations.

Naseljeni prije tek 250 godina Sejšeli su još uvijek nedodirnuti. Njihova primarna ljepota sadržava bogate šume, granitne vrhove koji se spuštaju preko raskošnih prastarih brežuljaka do oceana safirne boje. Sejšeli su jedno od rijetkih mjesta na zemlji gdje možete otkriti našu prapovijest i slobodno lutati, što je i naše pravo stečeno rođenjem. Najveći otok na kojemu živi 80% stanovništva (kreolci) je otok Mahe', sa glavnim gradom Victoria, ali smo se ovdje zadržali samo nekoliko sati, a kao glavne destinacije boravka odabrali smo otoke Praslin i La Digue, ono što osim kataloga i lokalno stanovništvo smatra „the best of Seychelles“. I mogli smo primijetili zašto. Granitne stijene koje jednu plažu odvajaju od druge čineći tako mnogobrojne uvale (anse) zaista su umjetnička djela. Najpoznatije su na otoku Praslinu plaža Anse Lazio, po mnogima najljepša plaža svijeta, a na otoku La Digue Anse Source d'Argent, najfotografiranija plaža na svijetu na kojoj su snimane mnoge reklame za alkoholna pića i krema za sunčanje, ko ja vam tu doista i treba. Kako bi se pristupilo toj plaži plaća se ulaz (4 eura) u Union Estate, kompleks koji sadržava plantažu vanilije, „tvornicu“ kokosovog ulja - vol koji vrteći se u krug i vučom pluga, od 30 kg kokosa proizvede 10 litara ulja - od kojih smo nekoliko bočica kupili ne bi li na rujanskom Porečkom suncu uspjeli još neko vrijeme održati tropski ten. Mene je osobno posebno dojmila popularna plaža Anse Georgette, za koju se ne plaća ulaz, ali se posjet istoj mora na vrijeme najaviti recepciji hotela Lemuria resort jer je broj posjetitelja na dan limitiran, budući da se do plaže dolazi uz golf terene luksuznog navedenog hotela, gdje najjeftinije noćenje na bazi BB stoji oko 300 eura po osobi. Na Praslinu smo posjetili i prodavaonicu autohtonih crnih perli, u kojoj se iste i obrađuju. Ima ih u nijansama od svijetlo sive do tamno sive boje, i naravno crnih, a cijene prstenja sa jednom takvom perlom kreću se od 700 do 1500 eura, a da ne govorimo o naušnicama i ogrlicama.

Tourism Minister Lauds NTDC's Achievements

NIGERIA - The Minister of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation, Senator Bello J. Gada yesterday in Abuja commended the achievements of the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) in the area of innovative tourism products which he said has raised the profile of the nation's emerging tourism sector. The minister who was on a familiarisation visit to the parastatal said; "Our ministry is happy to have people with foresight and creative enough to come up with innovation that will boost the tourism sector." The minister pledged his support for the parastatal to enable it achieve its utmost, while describing the tempo of work at the apex tourism body as commendable and urged them to sustain it. The sector he noted was crucial to the realisation of president Yar' Adua's 7-point agenda and the vision 2020, stressing that the visit was to expose his team to the working of NTDC, "so that when we sit down, we will be more knowledgeable about the ways to propel them to greater heights," the minister said. while welcoming the minister to the agency, the Director-General of NTDC, Otunba Olusegun Runsewe (OON), acknowledged that it was the first time a minister was visiting the agency barely three weeks of his appointment. Runsewe maintained that tourism holds the secret to economic diversification and sustainable development, given its huge potentials, Citing Countries like Kenya and South Africa that reap millions of dollars from tourism alone. He said his agency has stepped up efforts at sanitising the sector through partnership with the Corporate Affairs Commission and security agencies to rid it of fraudsters who hitherto floated tourism platforms to defraud unsuspecting foreigners. "fraud in tourism sector has reduced drastically as NTDC is taking the fight against fraudsters seriously,'he stressed. The NTDC team later took the minister round some facilities at the corporation's headquarters after presenting some tourism products to the visiting minister including the recently launched satellite navigator.
